Wednesday’s Workin’ Words!

Fill in the blank

The first piece of music I bought for singing was ____________.

Obed: “The good ol’ 24 Italian book – the yellow G. Schirmer. I was fourteen years old, in junior high, and I bought it at Kephart’s Music in Decorah, Iowa (now called Kephart – West Music Decorah) when I started taking private voice lessons at Luther College. The first song I sang out of it was Amarilli!”

Megan: “The first piece of music I bought for singing was the song A Perfect Heart by Reba Rambo Maguire. I started taking voice lessons when I was seventeen, and my voice teacher assigned it to me, as I wanted to sing a solo in church. I’m sure the sheet music is still in my parents’ house. I loved that song!”

Please share with us what your first investment in sheet music was that you purchased with the intent to learn to sing from it….whether you were successful in following through with it or not! A little nostalgia is good from time to time, and of course, we’d love to hear from you.
